Ron Hammelman
I'm an old old friend of Pat's from 50 years in the past. I was just thinking about her the other day and how to contact to say hello. Sadly I found her obit notice instead.
I met Pat when I got my first real job at Manufacturers Bank and Trust on S. Broadway in St. Louis. I was fresh out of the Army and trying to figure my life out. Pat trained me in the Cashiers Check and Collections Dept. What a riot she was. She was so full of energy and could not stop moving around. Always cheerful and giggly!
On Friday afternoons a group of us would go to the bar next door to get snacks and a drink with some high octane to get us through till closing at 6 pm. I remember her husband Tom, her proud Mustang, and other friends we worked with at the bank (especially Margaret and Marilyn who also worked in our "cage").
Pat got me started in my 20 year banking career as I went on to learn all of the jobs in banking and ended up as a President of a local bank. With so many bank mergers I left that industry and now finishing out as a registered investment advisor. On the side, I work with a few volunteer task force groups monitoring the threats to our nation's infrastructure, in particular the electric grid, plus other national security concerns.
Thanks Pat for all of the fun memories and my condolences go out to the family. And that's my memory post for 50 years ago!
