Tom Owen "Weezer" Mueth's Obituary
Tom Owen Mueth, 71, of Millstadt, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Garden View Care Center in Valley Park, MO.
He was born September 19, 1949, in Belleville to Herbert W. and Marion F. (Schlesinger) Mueth.
Tom, known as Weezer, by all of his friends, was a lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt. He was drafted into the United States Army and deployed to Vietnam. Returning home, a proud veteran, he went to work for over 20 years as a computer programmer for Southwestern Bell in St. Louis, MO. Tom retired as a mail handler for the United States Postal Service in St. Louis, MO. He was an active member of the Jaycees, the Millstadt Park Board, and the Millstadt Commercial Club, as well as devoted blood donor. Tom celebrated his 50-year anniversary as a member of the American Legion Post 502 in Millstadt, earlier this year.
Next to his family, Weezer’s second love was for the St. Louis Cardinals. When he wasn’t at the ballpark, he might be found posted up by the Mega Touch machine at one of his favorite stops sharing a cold one with his buddies. Tom was an accomplished bowler, loved fishing, and was known for his famous salt pickles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert W. & Marion F. Mueth.
Surviving are his daughter - Nicole (Matthew) Stumpf, son - Michael (Elizabeth) Mueth & daughter - Lindsey (Sean) Keefe, his grandchildren - Brynlee & Hayden Stumpf, Grace & Eden Mueth, and Morgan & Colton Keefe, a Sister, Lynn (William) Meyerchak, and nephews William and David Meyerchak, along many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 17, 2021, at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. Rev. Darrell Weber will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by Millstadt Legion Post 502 and the Illinois National Guard will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt.
Memorial donations can be made to American Red Cross, MCS Booster Club, or St. James Athletic Association. They will be accepted at the funeral home and at church.
