Praying for you and your family. Russell was such a great cheer leader for the kid's when they played ball for West. Duane and Kathy Miller
The phrase "one of kind" is often used to describe many things. It could not be more appropriately used than when discussing Russell. He truly was "one of a kind." It was always a pleasure running into him because he was always smiling, always friendly, and always genuinely excited to visit with you. My mom always told me he was one of my grandmother's favorites when my grandparents ran their bar/restaurant/bowling alley in Millstadt. I know he was a favorite of my parents also, as well as Pam and mine. He will be missed by many.
One of our favorite people, he always offered me his veggies from the garden, and when My mom once offered him some flower plants, he jokingly replied, "if I can't eat it, I don't want it". I am sure he was a favorite cousin of our mom. He now joins his beloved cousins, a good meal from mom, a good ball game with our Uncle Bill.
Will never forget Russell coming in store and sitting on bench wanting to share several (100) hundred stories about the old days. He would ask if I was here and they would page me downstairs. He wanted to share with me another story about my Dad and baseball. He had a very vivid and sharp memory of the past. Really enjoyed learning more about my Dad thru him. Paul would join in several times. Before you know it......a half an hour went by. We will miss him. Barb Green at Lee's Home Center.
Russell had a smile whenever we met him.
Sorry for your loss.
May he rest in pease.
I always remember him as my bus driver, my Mom and I lived across the street from the depot and every day his tall frame could be seen in his fancy overhalls. Rest in peace.
Mrs Baltz and family, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Russy. I have many memories of him as he was a friend of my late parents Toby and Coring Bratzel. Praying for your family.
