Merle "Molly" Weilbacher's Obituary
Merle "Molly" Ruth Weilbacher, 84 yrs., of Oklahoma City, OK, and formerly of Columbia, IL, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2013. She was born in Troy, IL, the daughter of the late Thomas and Bernadine (Diffenauer) Baum. She was married to the late Deacon Leo Arthur Weilbacher. They were married on September 9, 1950. He had passed away on April 12, 1998.
Merle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Merle had an unwavering faith in God from the time she was a child. Merle loved sharing her faith and even in her final weeks people were drawn to her by her spirit. Merle was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Columbia. She was a church trustee and member of the Altar Society and Women's Club. She also sang in the choir and was a quilter. Both Merle and Deacon Art were active in the early Pentecostal Catholic movement. They gave years of service to the Parish and the Diocese of Belleville. Her unwavering dedication to serving others was a true inspiration to all who knew her. Merle truly lead a life of service to others which has been an inspiration to her family and friends. Merle was a gifted pianist and she passed her musical talents on to her children, especially her son Tom. Merle was an excellent cook and enjoyed opening her home to friends and extended family.
