When I was very young my family would often visit the Wessel farm in Millstadt where my father had grown up. Louis and his brother Jimmie and sister Janet were all a little older and I truly looked up to them as they showed me - a naive little kid from the Chicago area - their fascinating life on the farm. Those were precious times that I have always treasured!
About five years ago my wife, Lois, and I returned to that farm seeking vital information from Louis and Nancy for the Wessel Family genealogy book we were compiling. Once again, being at that farm that Louis's and my great-grandfather, John B Wessel, had first purchased in 1894 was an unforgettable experience. Thank you Ludie!
So sorry to hear of the death of my cousin, “Luddie”. My father Peter Wessel was his Dad’s (Ben) brother. When I was young and we visited Ben and Annie, Luddie would always take me horseback riding. He was only one year older than me but acted like my big brother!
Have known and loved Nancy and Ludie since high school They have been so special to me!!!
