Today and forever Loray will be a huge part of our lives. I shed a tear when I found I missed the opportunity to tell her the lifelong impact she made. In the year 2000 we were at Shriners Hospital in St. Louis. Loray was with me during the hardest and most difficult times in my life. My daughter Chloe was six months old. I still remember Loray holding both my hands as I cried. She told me I was a steel magnolia. A title I was not deserving of, especially at that time. I’ve no doubt she gave the exact same comfort and assurance to everyone fortunate enough to know her. It was obvious that was the person she was. I wanted to share with her that Chloe is now 18 and such a beautiful young lady. When reflecting on Chloe's life growing up, Loray is always there. While this is long overdue, it is certainly a reminder to me I should never wait to share how much someone means and just how special they truly are. I pray this will serve as a gentle reminder to her friends and family just how far reaching are the beautiful seeds she planted in the lives of so many while here on this earth. Regardless the number of years, my heart will always go out to her family and friends. God bless.

Dear Loray,
It has taken me almost a year to be able to write this. Somehow putting it in text makes it seem more real,and most days, I still choose to believe it is not. You have been in my life forever. I cannot remember a time when you weren't. As a child, I thought that ,"Pat & Loray" were one word. After Mom died, you were the one I called for advice, and Yes,even the occasional receipe. You knew I didn't cook, and you were always very patient,and tried to give me the directions as simply as possible!!! My heart is broken for Pat, but it is Mike and Abby that I understand the loss of a Mother, and you were one of the best. And a exceptional Grandmother. I miss you more thatn I can say. Until we meet again....

Dearest Mother,
You will be forever be missed. I think of you everyday and know that you are always with me. I still reach for the phone to call and chat like we always did, but now i stand outside a talk to the stars and know your listening. I love you deeply and pray one day we will be chatting again, but not soon...i still have a lot to take care of before then.

Loray you were like a mother to me, my loving sister. I will miss you dearly. Your an example to me of how to live a godly life. You were so self-sacrificing and generous all the time. I know God has chosen to call you home to be with Him. We feel your loss every day.

My deepest sympathies to all the family. Loray was a remarkable person. She was extremely knowledgeable in all things OT. She was always willing to share her knowledge a gift few people posses. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I was able to work with her and get to know her. She will be missed. We will continue to pray for the family. Loray was truly fantastic.

Miss Loray has been part of our family since my daughter was six months old. My daughter, age eleven, is a patient at the hospital.

We feel so blessed to have known her, and to have experienced the First Annual Hand Camp together. How glad I am she was able to be there, I know how much it meant to her to be with the children.

She helped us through some of the most difficult times in my daughter's young life. She made us feel as though our daughter was her only patient. Her kindness and her patience were always unconditional. She made my child and so many others feel important and loved. We love you Miss Loray and we will miss you.

God's Blessings to her family. Thank you for sharing her with us. She is one of a kind.

Loray will be missed by all of us at Shriners Hospitals for Children. I could go on and on about her accomplishments, her personal warmth,etc., but perhaps one recent moment I had the privelige to share with Loray says it all. I caught her in the department one day recently and inquired about a whole host of "goodies" neatly stacked and ready to go. It turns out these was for the
kids at Hand Camp. This led to a lengthy conversation about the Camp, the children to be served, and the whole profession of occupational therapy: where it is and where it is going. All of this with Loray's smile, charm, but never talking about her role, just everyone else's.
I will miss her, she was one of my "go to' managers for just about anything. May she rest in peace.

I was blessed to have known and worked with Loray for 27 years. She was my close friend and mentor and we supported each other through good times and bad. Besides the love of our work at Shriners Hospital we shared many things including doctors, hairdressers and the challenges associated with our arthritis. Due to the fact that we were both SHC department directors and tall women, people had a tendency to get us confused even though Loray had her beautiful red hair and I am a blonde! What a compliment for me when that happened!! She was a wonderful therapist who was loved by the children she worked with and I will miss her terribly. I am a better person and therapist for having known her. I am in Arizona with a family emergency, but Pat, Abbey and Mike you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you face the challenges ahead. I didn't work directly with Loray,
but she always had a smile and a
hello when we'd pass in the hospital halls.
I know her OT coworkers will miss
her professional insite as well as
the children she served.
