Lillian M. Ortman's Obituary
Lillian Marie Ortman was born to the parents of late Frank J., and Ella C. Menner, Toenjes on January 25, 1930, in Columbia, IL. At the age of 92, Lillian passed away on August 12, 2022 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Peters, MO. Lillian was married to the late Victor H. Ortman. They were married November 20, 1950. He had passed away February 13, 2004. Lillian is survived by her daughters, Carla (Rod) Francis of O'Fallon, MO, and Sharon Vinson of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Lauren Vinson; Ryan (Sira) Francis, and Nathan (Cassie) Francis; great-grandchildren, Ali and Leo Francis, and Annabelle Francis; brother, Ralph (Vicki) Toenjes of St. Louis, MO, along with other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jane McDaniels, and brother, Robert Toenjes.
Lillian led a vibrant life as a devoted and loving mother to her daughters. She also had worked for over 30 years as an insurance broker for Marsh & McLennan. Lillian was an avid foodie who loved to cook and try news recipes on the people she loved. She loved getting together with her many friends, especially her bunco and exercise groups. She loved the company of her family especially her grandchildren and her pets. Lillian was also an avid reader and very involved in her church. She spread much joy through her smile and sense of humor everywhere she went. Her beautiful memory will live on through all the lives she touched over the years.
Lillian's visitation will be on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 9:00 am - 10:30 am, at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. The funeral procession will then leave the funeral home for an 11:00 am Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 411 Palmer Road, Columbia, IL, with Fr. Steve Thoma, officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to: The MD Anderson Cancer Research Center, Houston, TX. Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, IL, handled arrangements.
