Laurine Mary Schroeder's Obituary
Laurine Mary Schroeder, born on December 10, 1922, in Columbia, IL. passed away on June 9, 2017 at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis County, MO. She was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Bertha, nee Einwich, Frierdich. She was married to the late Joseph A. Schroeder. They were married June 4, 1946, in Columbia, IL. He passed away May 10, 1994.
Laurine was a lifelong active member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Her faith was always an important part of her life. She was active in the Columbia American Legion Post 581 Auxiliary, serving as President, and volunteering in countless other ways. She was a member of the 8 and 40, a regional American Legion honor society. She attended the one room Shoemaker school house and graduated from Immaculate Conception School.
In addition to raising her children and family activities, she often enjoyed working in the garden and flower beds.
Laurine is survived by seven of her children: Earl, Paul, Mary, and Mark (Lisa) Schroeder, Gail (Roger) Smith, Jane (Scott) Hippisley, and Sara (Todd) Burgener, 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brother, Lester Frierdich, along with other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Schroeder.
Visitation will be Monday, June 12, 2017, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL, with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
