I am so saddened to learn of Julia's death.
Ellen and Dennis: please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.
Julia will live on in our memories. She was always the 'life of the party,' took a very lively interest in everyone around her, and seemed often to be instigating something or other. With a twinkle in her eye, she insisted on forever calling me "RitaJean," something that amused her greatly after my fervent teenage efforts to use only my first name.
My earliest memories of Julia were when she and Kenneth were building your family's house on the bluff. My dad would stop by to share a beer and see how things were progressing. I always tagged along, ever fascinated by the temporary home set up in the basement while completing the upstairs and the evolving rock garden in the backyard.
Then there were those 4th of July get-togethers with all the Sugarloaf families. Lots of kids with adults letting us sometimes join them in no-mercy games of badminton, horseshoes and croquet...a fun time for everyone.
Last but not least was 'The Card Club;' I have never known a group of women that enjoyed their night out more. When hosted at our house, I was recruited to keep those highball glasses filled...a demanding job. And though banished to the bedroom, no one could sleep with all that banter and rowdy laughter.
Such good times and Julia, with her good-natured humor, was at the center of it all. She will be missed.
Hugs to you,
Rita Diehl

sorry to hear of your loss.
My husband have know your Mother for several years but since moving from Triple Lakes after the Brass Rail burned we lost touch. See her several time at American Legion for fish. Her parents ran the Railroad Y when I was a kid and lived right across the road in a railroad house. She was a special lady.
