Joseph Gregory Douchant's Obituary
Joseph Gregory Douchant, 93 years, of East Carondelet, Illinois, passed away on June 18th, 2023 in East Carondelet, Illinois. He was born June 13th, 1930 around Middletown, Missouri to J.P. Douchant and Gladys McGee.
He was best known as a horseshoe champion, having played in national tournaments. Joe was also a bowler, a master mechanic with Continental Can Company, and an avid reader. He was active in the Khoury League and was a past president of the Quarterback Club. Let’s not forget that he attended many auctions. He also loved riding his lawn tractor even once wheelchair bound.
Surviving are his sons; Michael (Linda) Douchant, Gary (Cathy) Douchant, David Douchant, and Terry (Barbara) Douchant, grandchildren; Keith, Rebekah, Laura, Mindy, and Michael Jordan Douchant, along with great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlyn Douchant, and parents, J. P. Douchant and Gladys Douchant.
Visitation will be Monday, June 26th, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Illinois. Services will be held Monday, June 26th, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Illinois. Interment will follow in the Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Illinois.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Tater Dome, 122 W. Washington St., Columbia, Illinois. This is where he spent many a day with friends pitching horseshoes.
