I wouldn’t miss her so deeply if I hadn’t loved her so much. She was family—her family was my family. She was my sister-friend.
For 28 years, we shared our lives, ever since we first met at Real Estate School. I liked her instantly, and as time passed, our bond grew stronger. We weathered hard times together, consoling each other through life’s struggles.
Even after I moved away, distance never dimmed our friendship. Though she couldn’t visit me, I made sure to see her often. We’d laugh, reminisce, and I’d help her however I could. No matter what, she always made me feel welcomed in her home.
When her beloved husband, Ted, was killed, we grieved together. I did my best to comfort her through the heartbreak, knowing how deeply they loved each other. My heart ached for her loss. Then, she received the devastating news—of stage 4 COPD. Yet, she remained strong. She had to. She carried on, navigating life with oxygen by her side, facing each day with remarkable resilience.
She was a strong woman, but her heart was just as gentle. Her boys cherished her for exactly who she was. We all loved Jana, and none of us will ever forget the love, kindness, and joy she brought into our lives.
Now, she is finally at peace—dancing with Ted once more.
