You have my sincerest condolences. Phil just told me yesterday of Howard’s passing and I was shocked.I wanted to see Howard earlier when he told me about Howard’s condition but he couldn’t remember where he was staying. Howard was my best friend through grade school at Roe. We did almost everything together. We also competed with each other in almost everything. If one of us got 1 point higher in a test score the other was devastated. Somehow, for no reason I can remember, we went different ways at the end of high school. I went to Rolla and I thought Howard did too but I can’t remember. I feel it was my loss that I didn’t keep in touch throughout the years.

My fondest memory of my brother probably when I was 8 or 9. He didn't have wrapping paper for Christmas. Instead, he told a story. I remember the gift (a Betty Crocker cookbook for kids) and I remember laughing at the story (Howard could be pretty funny when he wanted to be), but I don't really remember what he said. Something about hoping the cookbook helped me to become a good cook. While my cooking skills are debatable, I still have the cookbook.
We always enjoyed Howard’s quick wit. He would say something in his soft voice and we would all erupt in giggles. I remember when we were all getting ready for Charlie & Elea’s wedding and Howard and Bob were up and down the hallway checking on everyone and having fun. They were like two kids! RIP Howard.
