Dolores R. Alspach's Obituary
Dolores R. Alspach, 84 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on August 26, 2017 at Oak Hill Care Center, Waterloo, IL. She was born November 5, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of the late Charles H.W. and Helen L., nee Rose, Juergens. She was married to the late John E. Alspach.
Dolores was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL, Monroe County Home Extension (50 yr. member), Order of the Eastern Star - Rob Morris Chapter, Fairview Heights, IL (50 yr. member), Columbia Senior Citizens, and Charter member of the Columbia Sister Cities. She had previously worked as a legal secretary at the Law Firm of Lashly & Baer P.C. Dolores loved to crochet and her handiwork was acknowledged at the Monroe County and IL State Fair(s).
Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Linda (Alan) Struckmeyer of Gainesville, FL, and Laurie (Michael) Grubb of Waterloo, IL, son, Howard Knapp of Waterloo, IL, twin sister, Virginia Bokern of Fort Wayne, IN, grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, and Austin (fiancee, Loren Terry) Struckmeyer, Jason Grubb, and Kasey (fiance, Matt Pinson) Grubb, along with other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Juergens.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 30, 2017, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL, and Thursday, August 31, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 31, at 11:00 am, at the church, with Pastor Bob Goddard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
