Daphene was a tremendous blessing to a group of us, in a 'Jesus Freak' band, coming out from California to share our faith, in the early 70's. She was very hospitable to us, keeping us well fed with all kinds of farm grown culinary delights such as frog legs and squirrel. I remember chatting with her, and how impressed I was, as a baby Christian, with her kind, Godly, demeanor.
She definitely left a mark on my life, and I know that she is now reaping her reward for a life lived for the glory of Jesus Christ.

The year was 1955-6. Our pastor was on leave of absence and I was 'doing the preaching'. The church was 'young' and piano players, often didn't exist. Daphene was attending Sunday School and some how I had learned she played piano. I asked if she would remain for morning service and play for us. True to her nature she did. As we proceeded with the service, served the Lord's supper and the people were gathered in prayer, I noticed her setting at the piano with her head lowered. I moved to her side and ask if she would like to accept Jesus as her savior. She immediately knelt, prayed and that was the beginning of many years of shared friendship and ministry. One of the best 'moves' I ever made.

Grandma Hoffman was one of the best people I know . At a time in my life when I was rebellious , hurting, and didn't love myself she was there . She met me where I was at , at that time in my life , loving me , encouraging me , guiding me and most of all praying for me . She told me I'm your grandma now . Grandma had a beautiful smile , kind words , a generosity that was never ending , a strong love for God , her church and family , she never met a stranger . You touched the lives of many , and will be missed even more . Thank you Grandma Hoffman .

Daphene was such a funny women and could be ready with a joke at anytime. I enjoyed the times I took Daphene and my dad (Adam) to dinners in St. Louis. She would always look at the desert list immediately after she would look at the dinner menu. She would eat all of it!
So sorry for your loss. I know my dad will miss her calls and dinners.

Sister Hoffmann was one of mentors in my younger years. She was my Sunday School teacher for many years. She was an encourager. A prayer warrior. A woman of great faith. A godly woman. A Proverbs 31 woman. I’m sure she heard the Father say Well done my good and faithful servant. Until we meet again ❤️

Daphene was the sweetest little lady. Her and my mother were dear friends, and shared the same Birthday. May 12th. I met her sister Betty at one of our lunch dates at Olive Garden.
