William J. Sander's Obituary
William J. Sander, 93 yrs., of Columbia, IL, passed away at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Columbia, IL. He was born in Columbia, IL, the son of the late William and Josephine (Weilbacher) Sander. Bill was retired from the State of Illinois, where he was a Deputy Regional Manager for the IL Department of Labor. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of WW II and the Korean War. Bill was active throughout the community and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus - Council 6165 - 4th Degree, American Legion Post 581 where he had served as a Past Commander, past 22nd District American Legion Commander, IL Department of the Aging Area Chair for St. Clair, Madison, Monroe, Bond, and Randolph Counties, Past President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, parts buyer for Sander Auto Electric, President of the St. Louis Glennon Guild, and a member of the City of Columbia Sign Ordinance Committee, and Planning Commission. He was married to Margaret (Forthaus) Sander, who survives him, and his 1st wife, the late Viola K. (Hankammer) Sander.
