Walter Frank Frierdich's Obituary
Walter Frank Frierdich, 92 of Millstadt, Ill., born, January 16, 1925 in Columbia, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Walter was a retired truck driver from Kommunity Lumber Company/Lee’s Home Improvement Center. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Ill., Over Fifty Club and Knights of Columbus Council 4741. Walter enjoyed farming on his family’s farm, woodworking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. & Bertha, nee Menner, Frierdich, his sister, Hilda M. (August) Schaefer, his brothers, Elmer & William (Helen) Frierdich, his brothers-in-law, Daniel Schneider & Ralph Henss, his father-in-law, Frank Schneider and his mother-in-law, Ann, nee Schoenborn, Schneider-Drennen.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Agnes C. Frierdich, nee Schneider, his daughter, Linda (Gary) Weingartner and his son, James (Mary) Frierdich, grandchildren, Carrie (Brian) Gettinger, Michael (Leah) Weingartner, Erin (Scott) Richter, Dan (Briana) Frierdich & Jill (Fiance: Tom Gravemann) Frierdich, his great grandchildren, Olivia and Avery Gettinger, Abigail and Jenna Weingartner and Simon Frierdich. Also surviving are brothers & sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Roy) Skaer, Elaine (Don) Ortmann, Frank (Janice) Schneider, Ralph (Toni) Schneider, Robert (Janet) Schneider and Ken (Becky) Schneider as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Garden Place in Millstadt, Mercy Rehab and Care Center in Swansea and Memorial Hospital and Family Hospice in Belleville for the care and support given to Walter, and to Monsignor Marvin Volk for his pastoral care to Walter.
Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Ill., in the form of masses.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Ill., and on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Ill.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday, March 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Ill., with Monsignor Marvin Volk & Monsignor Ken Schaefer, officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Ill.
