Walter "Bud" Gisher's Obituary
Walter "Bud" Gisher, 95 years old of Cahokia, IL, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones at home. He was born April 29, 1927, on the family farm in Cahokia, IL.
He was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. In the early 1950's he owned a gas station in Alorton, IL., was a volunteer fireman and bought his first dump truck in the mid 50's and started Bud Gisher Trucking until retiring in the late 90's, early 2000's. He had also worked as a mechanic at Elder Cadillac Dealership in East St. Louis and for Sear's in East St. Louis as well. He also drove a school bus for Cahokia School District in the 1960's.
Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn Meyer of Waterloo, IL., his sons, Ron (Mary) Gisher of Dupo, IL & Duane Gisher of Cahokia Heights, IL., his grandchildren, James (Karen) Meyer, II of California & Ryan Corbin of Florida, his great-grandchildren, Payten (Ashton) Michaels, Dakota "Cody" Walsh, Sophia Meyer, Lara Meyer, Kennedy Corbin, Cameron Corbin, Kaleb Corbin & Kade Corbin, his great-great-grandson, Henry Bone, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward John Baptist & Sophia Rosalie, nee Bevelot, Gisher Sr, his son-in-law, Jim Meyer, his grandchildren, Christy Gisher & Scott Corbin, siblings: Marie Bennett, Edward Gischer, Jr., Rose Shumake, Emile Gischer, Matilda Gisher, Ferdinand "Chub" Gischer, John Gisher, Sr., June Gisher, Loraine Mounce, and Loretta Gisher.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 10:30 to 11:30 am at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:30 am at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL, with Jim Jarvis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Valhalla Gardens Of Memory, Belleville, IL.
