Virginia Rose "Ginny" Rossin's Obituary
Herrin- Virginia Rose “Ginny” Rossin, 87, of Herrin, passed away at 5:48 AM, Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Mt. Vernon Health Care.
Ginny was born on February 7, 1934 in Herrin to Walter and Ethel (Casey) Upchurch. She married the love of her life and best friend- Bob Rossin on September 8, 1951 in Herrin. To this union were born two sons- Gary and Bobby Rossin.
She was a strong, hardworking, Christian woman who retired in 1996 from the Olin Corporation where she worked in quality control. Before that she worked several years at Sangamon Electric. She was a longtime member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy. She was saved at the Radio Tabernacle in April of 1973.
In her spare time, she and her beloved husband enjoyed travelling to different places like Daytona Beach and Disney World with her grandchildren and spending time outdoors camping and fishing for whatever was biting with the boys when they were younger. They were quite proud when they saved enough to vacation in Hawaii together. The also loved spending time with extended family on their houseboat on Crab Orchard Lake.
She is survived by her sons- Gary Rossin and wife Carol of Johnston City and Bobby Rossin of Herrin; five grandchildren- Michelle Pendleton and husband Erik of San Diego, Ca, Matt Rossin and wife Eve of Freeman Spur, Melanie Gray and husband Justin of Herrin, Heather King and husband David of Herrin and Shawn Rossin and Alyssa of Aurora, IL. Also surviving are thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great granddaughter- Josie King, brothers- Walter Lee, Kenneth and Charles Upchurch and sisters- Mildred Christian, Clara Burnette and Lillian Davis.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 28, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Rev. Jerry Schell will officiate. Inurnment will follow. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the graveside. Memorial arrangements were entrusted to Leesman Funeral Homes of Southern Illinois under the direction of Devin McCluskie.
