Virginia G. Freimuth's Obituary
Virginia G., nee Reichert, Freimuth, 96 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Oak Hill Care Center, Waterloo, IL. She was born April 23, 1918, on the family farm near Columbia, IL. She was the first child of Myrtle and Harry Reichert Sr. She attended Mueller School with her sister Frances and brother Harry. She married the late Leeland H. Freimuth on October 24, 1937, in St. Louis, MO. He passed away May 19, 1992. To this union of nearly 55 years were born Arlene Weilbacher, Glen Freimuth, and Ellen Rey.
Virginia spent her entire life in the Columbia area as a wife and mother. She was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ, New Hanover, IL, where she was active with the Women's Guild. She had been a 4-H leader and was involved with other civic groups. She completed her life recollections in 2010, which provided unique and valuable insight to her life and times and to those who shared her life. She was a loving wife and mother who gave unselfishly to her family, friends, and the community.
