Virgil Allen Stofel's Obituary
Virgil Allen Stofel, 77 years of Dupo, IL, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Town and Country, MO. He was born July 28, 1943, in Sulfur Springs, MO.
Virgil was retired computer programmer from the Department of Defense in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in St. Louis, MO. He was a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International, he was an avid New York Yankees fan and an Air Force veteran serving during Vietnam.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sheryl Stofel, nee Gould, they were married on December 24, 1964, his children, Angela (Philip) Willeford, Michael Allen (Dawn) Stofel and Kimberly (Matt) Crossin, his grandchildren, Blake Willeford, Brittney (Jason) Martin, Cameron & Clayton Stofel, Drake & Taylor Law, his brother, Amil (Barbara) Stoffel, and his sister, Connie Gillison. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Father, Percy Sr. and Irma, nee Ingram, Stoffel, his brothers and sisters, Eunice Nelson, Percy Stoffel Jr., John Stoffel Sr., Robert Stoffel, Mildred Gould, Russell Stoffel and Pearl Overton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home, Dupo, IL, and on Friday, May 21, 2021, 9:30 am - 10:00 am, at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 901 Barracksview Rd, Saint Louis, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday May 21, 2021, at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Steve Willeford, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
