Steven "Charlie" Clark Hamilton's Obituary
Steven "Charlie" Clark Hamilton, 74 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 15, 1949, in East Saint Louis, IL.
On, September 18, 1971 in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Belleville, IL he was united in marriage to Virginia Ann Martin and to this union one child was born. They shared fifty one years of marriage together.
Charlie worked at Charles Meyers Pants in Belleville, he was also Past President of United Garment Workers in Belleville, he then went on to work at Tasty Bread and retired from Wonder Bread.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. Charlie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing golf and softball as well as coaching his siblings teams, liked doing woodworking projects, he was a lawnmower cowboy and loved riding his zero turn, watching and whistling to the birds while enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning, loved traveling with his family and spending much time with them, but most of all he loved and cherished being grandpa.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginna" Hamilton of Columbia, IL, his daughter, Andrea "Annie" (Ryan) Brown of Columbia, IL, his three granddaughters, Hannah Brown, Ava Brown, and Lydia Brown, his siblings, Everett (Judy) Hamilton, Sharon (Paul) Rongey, Randall (Lola) Hamilton, Gary (Phyllis) Hamilton, Denise (Joe) Hoepker, Janice Hamilton, Neil (Debbie) Hamilton, Mark (Denise) Hamilton, Donald (Cindy) Hamilton, Bradley (Tammy) Hamilton, Tracy Schmidt, Kelly (Terry) Hamilton, and Robert (Sherry) Hamilton, his in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Louis Hamilton; mother, Dorothy Mae Hamilton; two brothers, Robert L. Hamilton, Jr. and Ronald Hamilton; two sisters, Constance (Jerry) Ohlendorf and Deborah (Blake) Pfannebecker; and brother-in-law, Rich Schmidt.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, 2023, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home - Columbia, IL.
Funeral Mass will be held , Wednesday June 7, 2023 10:00 am, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, ILwith Father Steve Thoma officiating.
Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
