Stephen J. Moravec Sr.'s Obituary
Stephen J. Moravec Sr., 62 years of Dupo, IL, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at his residence. He was born April 5, 1962, in East St. Louis, IL.
Steve married Gina Patterson November 9, 1984 and had two children, Ashlea and little Steve that he loved dearly. Steve and Gina spent their lives together and are now reunited.
He was proud to come from a large family of ten children from which he was the youngest boy. He often shared memories of their travels to the Czech Republic and their yearly Moravec Classic get-togethers. His favorite times were spent with his four grandchildren and attending his grandsons sporting events. He was the proudest papa!
Steve was known for his friendly banter, outgoing personality, giving nature, doting on his family and the love for his dogs, Emmie, Izzy and his cat Kitty.
Steve never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time on his porch, out back BBQing or around the kitchen table sharing a Busch beer with his family and friends.
Steve was retired from Republic Services with 36 years of service. He loved his kids and grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughter, Ashlea (Bill) Meyers and Stephen J. (Christie A.) Moravec Jr., his grandchildren, Noah & Easton Meyers and Baker & Shiloh Moravec, his sisters and brothers, Evvie Moravec, Joseph Moravec, Frank (Sue) Moravec, John (Jeannie) Moravec, Mike (Alice) Moravec, Rick (Pam) Moravec and Regina Moravec, his brother-in-law, Steve Richter, his puppies, Izzy & Emmy, along numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gina Marie Moravec, nee Patterson, his parents, Frank J. and Evelyn Ruth, nee Howard, Moravec, his brother, Tony Moravec and his sister, Becky Richter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 3:00 p.m..
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Gateway Pet Guardians, 725 N. 15th Street, East St. Louis, IL. 62205 or Backstoppers of Monroe County.
