Russell P. Buechler's Obituary
Russell P. Buechler, 90 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on August 21, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. He was born March 3, 1928, in Belleville, IL, son of the late August and Mathilda, Bretch, Buechler. He was married to Mary Ann, nee Lumbattis, Buechler, who survives him. They were married October 1, 1955, in Belleville, IL.
Russell was retired from Ameren Union Electric, St. Louis, MO, and was a member of American Legion Post 581, Columbia, IL. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 1951-52.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Housewright of Columbia, IL, and Sharon (Randall) Buettner of Columbia, IL; two sons, 'Bo' (Vanessa) Buechler of Waterloo, IL, and Michael (Kathy) Buechler of Columbia, IL; ten grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah), Jennifer, Sarah, Joe (Jaimie), Lindsay, Scott, Brad, Joshua (Lauren), Emily (Daniel), and Kaleb; five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Paxton, Allyssa, Solomon, and Jarmonie; a sister, Pauline Brody of Sarasota, FL, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Myrtle Buechler and Rosella Hickerson, along with a brother, Stanley Buechler, great-grandchild, Ryder, and his Bulldog, Lucy.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 23, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 24, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
