Roy Lee Trexler's Obituary
Roy Lee "Sid" Trexler, 100 years of Columbia, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Waterloo, IL. He was born September 1, 1925, in Ullin, IL, to the late George Dewey and Ella, nee Julian, Trexler.
On June 12, 1946, he married the love of his life, Cleta "Evelyn" Trexler in Perks, IL. "Sid" and "Evelyn" spent 76 wonderful years together until her passing in 2022.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia, IL. "Sid" was a World War II veteran and epitomized "The Greatest Generation." He worked at the Columbia Quarry Company, working his way up to becoming president by the time he retired. In his spare time "Sid" enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved being with his family.
Surviving are his sons, Garry R. (Kathie) Trexler of Franklin, TN, and Clyde D. (Becky) Trexler of Columbia, IL; grandchildren, Leslie C. (John) Hooper, Nathan R. (Stacy) Trexler, Adam "AJ" (Ginny) Trexler and Justin A. (Gisela) Trexler; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold "Gene" Trexler and Douglas "Mac" Trexler, along with other family members.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded by his siblings, Jessie, Charles, Betty, Edith, George "Sam" and Terry.
Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2026, 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Services will be held immediately after the visitation at 11:00 am with Pastor Derick Mickan officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1200 Valmeyer Road, Columbia, IL 62236 .
