Roy A. Taake's Obituary
Roy A. Taake, 92 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on June 18, 2017, at Garden Place of Columbia, IL. He was born July 26, 1924, in New Hanover, IL, son of the late Fred and Mary, nee Bieber, Taake. He was married to Edna, nee Schmidt, Taake, who survives him. They were married May 31, 1953, in Columbia, IL.
Roy had served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He had been a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL, and American Legion Post 581. He was a retired Carman for the Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad. Roy loved hunting rabbits and squirrels, and fishing whenever he was able.
Also, surviving are his daughter, Carol (Larry) Soma of Columbia, IL; Two Grandchildren, Scott (Mandy) Soma, and Sara (Jared) Kertz; Three Great-Grandchildren, Ashlyn Kertz, Easton Kertz, and Brantley Soma; Nephew, Marvin Jokisch, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his Three Brothers, Raymond Taake, Lester Taake, and Delbert Taake; and a Sister, Esther Jokisch.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21, 2017, 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Fred Wehrenberg, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
