Ronald Larry Callahan's Obituary
Ronald Larry Callahan, 73 years of Valmeyer, IL, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO. He was born May 16, 1949, in Phoenix, AZ.
Ron was a decorated member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, IL, VFW Post 901 of Valmeyer, IL and the Disabled American Veterans Association. He enjoyed shooting guns, going hunting, fishing, and hiking in the mountains in Montana..
On, December 17, 1977, in Columbia, IL he was united in marriage to April Weston. They shared forty five years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, April Callahan of Valmeyer, IL, his four siblings, Helen (Gene) Tang of Show Low, AZ, Rick Callahan of Deltona, FL, Carla Hobbs of Bakersfield, CA, and Carl Carr of Bakersfield, CA, his brother-in-law, Russell Weston of Butner, NC, his special friends, John, Juanita & Mariah Roland of Valmeyer, IL, and his special neighbors, Tim and Jennifer Pluemer of Valemeyer, IL, along with other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Zimmerman; mother, Era Zimmerman; father-in-law, Russell (Arbah Jo) Weston; grandparents-in-law, Luther (Lillie) Weston; and aunt, Lucille Weston.
A Celebrate of Life will be held, Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11:00 am at Concord Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, IL. A memorial gathering will be held from Friday, December 16, 2022 from 10:00am until the time of services. After services there will be a lunch in at the church.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to a fund that has been established at the funeral home.
