Roman Altgilbers was born in Aviston, Illinois, son of the late Henry and Anna (Markus) Altgilbers. He was a retired WW II Navy Veteran having worked at the Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis, MO, member of American Legion Post #581, Columbia, IL, V.F.W. Post #7980, Millstadt, IL, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL, and Sister Cities of Columbia. He was the husband of the late Medrie (Phillips) Altgilbers. They were married in Freeburg, IL on July 27, 1963.
