Roger A. Nottmeier's Obituary
Roger A. Nottmeier, 90 years of Waterloo, and formerly of Columbia, IL, passed away on January 9, 2018 at Legacy Place, Waterloo, IL. He was born February 15, 1927, in Madonnaville, IL, son of the late George F. and Freida E., nee Hoffmann, Nottmeier. He was married to the late Rose Marie, nee Reis, Nottmeier. They were married June 29, 1949. She had passed away October 23, 1994.
Roger had worked in traffic control for the Wabash Railroad which later became the Norfolk Western Railroad. After the railroad moved to Virginia, he worked with Luhr Bros, Inc., Columbia, IL, and had served his community as a past City Clerk, Columbia, IL. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was a loving father and grandfather. Roger loved life, being around people, gardening, and the outdoors, as fishing was his passion.
Surviving are two daughters, Dawn (Michael) Markus of Columbia, IL, and Renee (Douglas) Helms of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Matthew Markus, Lance (Christine) Markus, Samantha, and Heather Helms; , along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Milton Nottmeier, and sister, Alvera Niebruegge.
Visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 13, at 11:00 am, at the funeral home with Rev. Matthew Friz, officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
