Robert "Zimmie" Zimmermann, 66, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL. He was born in Belleville, IL, the son Edward and Thekla (Matychowiak) Zimmermann. He had retired from Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home after 44 yrs. of service. Before his employment at the funeral home he was a driver for "Mister Softee" ice cream truck. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL., where he was active in the Men's Club, Knights of Columbus Council 1028, Belleville, IL, retired Chief of the East Side Volunteer Fire Department, Belleville, IL. He was married to Carol (Vetter) Zimmermann, who survives him. They were married on June 26, 1965 in Collinsville, IL.
