Robert Clarence Weis' Obituary
Robert Clarence Weis, 85, of Millstadt, Ill, born January 24, 1929 in Millstadt, Ill, , departed this world for his heavenly home early on the morning of October 28, 2014 with his family by his side at Universal Health Service Hospice in Fort Worth, Texas.
Robert attended Millstadt grade school and Zion Lutheran School in Belleville, Ill., He graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1947 and attended Belleville Area College.
Robert served his country in the U. S. Army from 1951 – 1953. He was stationed in Anchorge and Fairbanks Alaska during the Korean Conflict.
On April 26, 1953 Robert married his beloved wife Myrtle A. Muller at Zion Evangelical and Reform Church in Millstadt, Ill. Robert and Myrt’s love for each other and dedication to family served and inspired all who knew them.
Following in the footsteps of three previous generations, Robert carried on the family plastering business, the George Weis Company. Through his 40 years of running the George Weis Company, Robert’s gift of his Christian faith guided him in all his relationships with customers, employees, vendors and other business associates. At the time of his death, Robert was both humbled and proud that the George Weis Company is now being operated by his sons and grandsons, nephew and great nephews the 5th and 6th generations in the business.
Robert was baptized, confirmed and a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, Ill. He loved his savior Jesus Christ and held precious his faith and trust in his Lord. Robert’s passion for singing led him to be a life long member of the church choir, the Millstadt Community Choir and the Kaskaskia Trail Chorus.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille, nee Knepper, Weis, and his brothers-in-law, Fred Schuhardt and Herbert Mueller.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrtle Weis, nee Mueller, his daughter, Shirleen (Frank) Simek, his three sons, Mark (Lauri) Weis, Mike (Cheryl) Weis and Terry (Kate) Weis, his grandchildren, Stan (Lindsey) Simek, Frank (Kristen) Simek, Brett (Nicole) Simek, Ryan (Kristin) Weis, Andy Weis, Tara (Steve) Keys, Jody, Lacey, Jessica, Shane and Samantha Weis, three great grandchildren, Camden Keys, Cecelia Simek and Stas Simek. His sister, Ethel Schuhardt, his brothers in-law and sistersin-law, Kermit (Suzanne) Mueller and Helen (Clyde) Weible. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, Ill., Family Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation will be Friday, October 31, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Ill., and on Saturday, November 1, 2014 an hour before the service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, Ill.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, Ill., with Rev. Michael Kumm, Rev. Todd Wilken and Rev. Peter Ill, officiating.
Entombment will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Belleville, Ill.
