He is preceded in death by his mother, Marcella Weller, his father, Ralph Weller and two brothers, Kenneth and Merrill Weller. He is survived by his wife of forty nine years, Tina (Ahrens) Weller, and his children Robert Weller Jr. of Florida, Barbara (Weller) Parnell of Columbia, IL, David (Doris) Weller of Bishop, CA, Gina (Rick) Bayer of East Carondelet, IL. and Ronald (Michelle) Weller of East Carondelet, IL as well as twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. March 22, 2014 - Robert ôBobö Weller, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in East Carondelet, Illinois, surrounded by family, as Johnny CashÆs ôSunday Morning Coming Downö played in the background. He was 85 years old. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 telling Navy recruiters he was seventeen years old even though he was only sixteen. He served honorably aboard the U.S.S. Maddox, U.S.S. Romulus and U.S.S. Iowa in the Pacific during World War II. Bob was an active member of the East Carondelet community for over 30 years, serving as mayor, police officer, volunteer fireman and village trustee. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers 520 and Labor Local 42. Bob often spent his summer days on his patio barbecuing for family and friends while sipping a Busch beer. Passersby would often drop in to chat or wave from their cars as they passed. Bob always greeted them with a smile or a tip of his Fighting Illini cap. In his private moments, he was a voracious reader and enjoyed watching old westerns. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Family Hospice.
