Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years: Sylvia Mentel, his children: Richard D.(Cheryl)Mentel of Imperial, MO., Ronald D. (Joanna) Mentel of Belleville, IL., Robert D. (Judith) Mentel of Thornton, CO., & Jane (Robert) Schmidt of Dupo, IL., his grandchildren: Richard (Kim Wilkes) Mentel, Brian (Dena) Mentel, Michael Mentel, Matthew (Michelle) Mentel, Sarah (John Biermann) Mentel, Angela (Bobby) Golwitzer, Eric (Mandy) Mentel, Kyle (Alice Murray) Mentel, Emma Schmidt, Evan Schmidt, & Jennifer Meyers, his great grandchildren: Hannah, Bria, Keira, Nathaniel, Delana, Bailey, Alyssa, Jacob, Zac, Zada, Zoe, Dakota, & Brady, his brothers & sister: George Mentel, Dorothy (William) Rick & Eugene (Norma) Mentel, he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives & friends. Robert was a WWII veteran of the United States Merchant Marines & United States Coast Guard. Memorials may be made to Christ United Church of Christ Elevator Fund in Dupo, IL.
