Richard "Rick" Homer Luby's Obituary
Richard "Rick" Homer Luby, 71 years old of Cahokia, IL, passed away on April 19, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in Desloge, MO. He was born June 29, 1949, in St. Louis, MO.
Rick was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States of Army and a Purple Heart Recipient. He has been involved and active with many military organizations through the years in both Missouri and Illinois, such as the VFW, American Legion, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Amvets. He has held posts at both the local and state levels with the most recent being Commander and Bar Manager at the American Legion Post 485 in Dupo, IL. He was also an Auxiliary Police Officer in Jennings, MO.
Surviving are his sister, Patricia (Grayling) Pingle of Wisconsin; his brother, Robert Hayes of St. Louis, his daughter, Cara (John) Greenwald, his sister-in-law, Sandra Hayes of Cahokia, his grandchildren, Ashley (John) Choate Jr., Daultyn Comparato, Ros Comparato & Austyn Greenwald, his great-grandchildren, John Choate III, Ashtyn Choate & Jordan Comparato, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife who passed away in 2007, Sandra M. Luby, nee Jones, his mother, Ruby Hayes, nee Winebrenner, his father, Joseph Luby; his brothers, Thomas "Tom" Hayes, William "Billy" Hayes, Ralph Hayes & John Hayes and his sister, Corliss "Sissy" Hayes.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL.
Services will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL., with Rev. Roger Reid, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO., with full military honors.
