Richard Allen Menke's Obituary
Richard Allen Menke, 60, of Millstadt, Illinois, went home to be with his Heavenly
Father on Saturday, December 28th, 2024. He was born May 1st, 1964 in Red Bud, Illinois.
He is survived by his two sisters, Sandra (Michael, a fantastic friend) Menke, Karen
(David) Batts, a niece Olivia Batts, whom he loved spending time with, a friend who was like a
brother, Roger Hausmann, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Rich was preceded in death by his
father James Menke, his mother Anita (Grahlherr) Menke, grandparents, Harold and Olivia
(Helfrich) Grahlherr, William and Edith (Roberts) Menke, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was loving and compassionate towards his family and dear friends. Rich never let a
moment go by without helping others and making each person feel special. Calling him a jack of
all trades is simply just the start. As he enjoyed basking in the outdoors, he was avid in his
gardening, landscaping, and yard work. The lives he touched through his work were innumerable
and he considered each client family. Rich loved fixing up bikes for his niece and family, as well
as selling them at the swap in Monroe County. He also enjoyed riding his bike, decorating for the
holidays, watching Hallmark movies, and listening to music. Rich loved growing and tending to
a bountiful garden and baking an array of Christmas cookies for his family. He loved spending
time with and caring for family pets, Maya and Ruby. He lived his last days seeking the Lord and
learning how to be a faithful servant.
A memorial visitation will be held on January 11th, from 10am to 12pm at First Baptist
Church in Waterloo, IL. The service will begin at 12 pm.
Private burial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial
contributions be directed to the family and can be mailed to Leesman Funeral Home, 7 E. Mill St., Millstadt, IL. 62260.
