Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon & Mabel, nee Pankey, Morris Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Proffer, nee Meinders, his step-daughter, Carla (Oakley Hankins) of Columbia, Ill., his step-son, Michael Hunter of Park Hills, MO., his grandchildren, Grant, Ethan, Dylan, Katelyn & Edward, his sisters & brothers, Debra (Ken) Shondy of Dupo, Ill., Kay Mennemeyer of Festus, MO., Carol Scott of East Carondelet, Ill., Annette (Ernie) Higgerson of Dupo, Ill., Sharon (Bill) Welker of Marble Hill, MO., James Pankey of California & Charlene Marshall of Festus, MO. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was employed with Wal-Mart in Cahokia, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for expenses.
