Richard P. Cullen's Obituary
Richard P. Cullen, 73 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on October 2, 2020. He was born September 11, 1947, in Belleville, IL, son of the late Leonard G. and Lucille H., nee Matheis, Cullen. He was married to Darlene, nee Woodcock, Cullen, who survives him. They were married September 25, 1971, at Immaculate Conception Church, Columbia, IL.
Richard was widely known in the area for over 50 years as a talented musician and amazing music teacher, having taught hundreds of local students and leaving a legacy of generations of musicians. He owned and operated Cullen Music Studio in Columbia, was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Columbia, IL, and the Knights of Columbus Council 6165.
Also, surviving are his son, Jeffrey (Holly) Cullen; grandchildren, Lena, Kadi, Brody, and Christian Cullen; sister, Virginia (Ted) Cruz, brother, Larry (Barbara) Cullen; nieces, Maria, Joanna, and Stephanie, along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2020, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11 am, at the Church, with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
