Peggy Jo Hurt's Obituary
Peggy was predeceased in death by her parents, Herschel Bishop Jennings and Flora (Webb) Jennings, a brother Herschel Bishop Jennings, Jr., and her sister, Sylvia (Jennings) Richie. Surviving family members are husband, William (Bill) Hurt whom she married May 7, 1983, daughter Lori Jo (Henley) Moore and Husband Clark Moore of Salisbury, NC, son Rodger Henley of Dupo, IL, her step-son and his wife Marc and Irene Hurt of Hannibal, MO, and her step-daughter Marcia Hurt of Wheaton, IL. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jordan Moore of Salisbury, NC, Leah Johnson of Quincy, IL, and Marcus Hurt of Hannibal, MO, great grandchildren, Brandon and Spencer Johnson of Quincy, IL, and a sister Marilyn Riddle of Loudonville, NY. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Friends and family were the center of her life. She has been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Dupo and very passionate about ministering to others in many ways. Peggy loved to cook and was head of the church kitchen committee where she prepared countless meals for the congregation and community. She was everyone's mother, and believed if you feed the body you could then feed the soul. Vacation Bible School was another of Peggy's favorite ministries. All of those children were ôher grand kidsö, and they all new it. She loved to teach them and share Bible stories. She also served on the church nominating committee, and helped place many people in service positions for the Lord.
