She was born in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Sobkowiak) Skiera. She had retired as a merchandiser with Famous Barr, St. Louis, MO, and had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. She was married to the late Edward E. Gruchala. He had passed away June 16, 1991.
