Opal Louise Smith's Obituary
Opal L. Smith, nee Palmer, 91 years old of Dupo, IL., passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born February 9, 1927, in Fort Scott, KS. .
Opal was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dupo, IL. and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Dupo, IL. She retired as a secretary from MOPAC railroad after 40 years and had worked at the Cracker Barrel in Caseyville for the past 15 years.
Surviving are Son, James G. (Stephanie) Smith; Daughters, Sally L. (Daniel) Weber & Freda C. McCloud; Grandchildren, James D. Smith, Kevin M. Smith, Christi M. (Craig) Purcell, Matthew S. Weber, Brittany N. Weber, Teri L. (Todd) Kern & Jason M. McCloud; Great Grandchildren, James Jason "JJ", Jaiden, Peyton, Paige, Dylan, Chandler, Braden & Maggie, Brendin, Christopher, Madison, Morgan, Jessa and Liam, Step-Mother, Georgia Palmer, Sisters, Alice Stanger & Retha McGee, nieces, nephews, cousins along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, James V. Smith; and her parents, Oscar & Viola May, nee Workman, Palmer and her sister, Wilma Graves.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL. and on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Dupo, IL.
Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Dupo, IL., with Rev. Roger Reid, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Valhalla Gardens Of Memory, Belleville, IL.
