Norman Earl "Snap" Smitt's Obituary
Norman Earl “Snap” Smitt, 81, of Belle, Mo., formerly of Dupo, Ill., born July 22, 1934 in Renault, Ill, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his residence.
Snap was retired from Metal Container as a forklift operator. He proudly served in both the Army and Navy. He was a member of the Dupo fishing Hall of Fame, was a former member of the Dupo Volunteer Fire Department, he loved fishing, playing cards, the St. Louis Cardinals, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Snap was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara J. Smitt, nee Wolf, his second wife, Florence J. Smitt, nee Swiderski, his parents, Otto and Cecilia, nee Bequette-Du Frenne, Smitt, his sisters, Lorraine Brandenburger and Judy Smitt in infancy, his brothers, Melvin and Raymond Smitt, his brother-in-law, Roy Brandenburger, his sisters-in-law, Judy Smitt, Lola Smitt and Julie Smitt.
Snap is survived by his daughter, Kim (Greg) Zweifel, his grandchildren, Beth (Brian) Hulsey and Becky (Zach) Goodridge, his great grandsons, Tucker Hulsey and Hayden Goodridge, his step-children, Nancy (Rich) Hayes and Ronnie (Pat) Thielemann, his brothers, Charles (Marie) Smitt, Delbert Smitt, Donald Smitt, Vernon Smitt and Ronald (Charlotte) Smitt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Dupo Volunteer Fire Department.
Visitation: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Ill., with Pastor Matt Friz, officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
