Newell C. Thielemann's Obituary
Newell C. Thielemann was born at home on November 16th 1931, in Dupo IL. He was the 11th of 13 children. With only an 8th grade education, he taught himself to weld and ran his own shop doing projects for individuals as well as different businesses throughout the town of Dupo. He could always find a way to stay busy- he worked every day, even into his 90’s he was mowing grass or chopping and selling firewood. He was also an avid outdoorsman- hunting and fishing were some of his favorite hobbies.
He met and married his late wife Eva at the age of 18. They were married almost 60 years before her passing in 2007. They loved the outdoors-fishing, canoeing, camping were all featured in many of his stories. He referred to her as his sweetheart. They had 6 children; Stephen Long, Peggy Nieman (Tom Knox), Shirley (Dean) McKinney, David Thielemann, Brenda (Gene) Harris, and Tim Thielemann.
He was an imperfect man, but the love he had for all 6 of his children, 11 grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren superseded his imperfections. His hands were rough and worn from almost all of his 94 years filled with hard labor, but his heart always stayed soft. He gave more to others and the world around him than he ever took. He was modest probably to a fault. We know he will live on through the many stories he shared with everyone he came across.
