Nancy Newton's Obituary
Nancy Newton, 70 yrs., of Columbia, IL, passed away at University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY. She was born in Hurst-Bush, IL, the daughter of the late Curtis and Vera (Perry) Newton. She was a educator in the Columbia School system for over 40 years teaching second grade. She received her Bachelors Degree from SIU in 1964 and received her Masters Degree from SIUE in 1999. She was a member of the IEA and NEA. Nancy loved working with young authors doing educational workshops and working with gifted students in and around Columbia and Belleville. She was selected "Teacher of the Year" by the Jaycees in 1972 as well as receiving other educational awards throughout her teaching career.
