Nancy Mabel Caponi's Obituary
Nancy Mabel Caponi, nee Watland, 82 years of Millstadt, IL, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Woodlands of Arnold in Arnold, MO. Nancy was born April 23, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL.
Nancy was an active member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. She was in the first graduating class at BAC for nursing. She had worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Memorial Hospital in Belleville. She was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary at Memorial Hospital, a member of the Civic Club and a volunteer for years at the Millstadt Library.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years whom she married on June 23, 1962, Saverio "Tony" Caponi, her sons, Kirk (Janelle) Caponi and Eric (Susan) Caponi, her grandchildren, Dominic & Angelo Caponi, Katie, Sara & Lucy Caponi, her sisters, Irma Knapp and Deanna Middaugh, her brothers-in-law, Peter Caponi and Michael Caponi, she is also survived by nieces & nephews along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Mabel, nee Mueller, Watland, her brother, Charles Watland and her brothers-in-laws, Bill Knapp & Bruce Middaugh;
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL, and on Friday, June 24, 2022, from 9:00 am - 10:00 am, at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday June 24, 2022, at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. Interment will follow in the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Illinois.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Millstadt Library, 115 W. Laurel St., Millstadt, IL. 62260 or to the Alzheimer's Association of St. Louis 9370 Olive Street Rd., St. Louis, MO 63132 .
