Mildred "Lea" Lavetta Riechmann's Obituary
Mildred "Lea" Lavetta (nee Adkins) Riechmann, 86 years old, of Red Bud, IL, passed away on December 17, 2025 at the de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, MO. She was born April 13, 1939 in Wayne County, WV.
Lea was a nurse for over 40 years and worked at VA Hospitals in Huntington, WV and St. Louis, MO and retired as a Registered Nurse from St. Clement Hospital, Red Bud, IL. She and her husband were lifetime members of the American-International Charolais Association. Spending time with family was the most precious to Lea. She a was an avid reader, always settling with a good book. She loved peacocks and their brightly colored feathers.
Surviving are her children, Larry (Gayle) Cahoon, Gary (Shana) Cahoon, Annette (Mitch Greenhill) Riechmann, Mark Riechmann, and Matthew (Lisa) Riechmann; grandchildren, Lea Ann Mamino, Thomas Cahoon, Kyle Cahoon, Colton (Tiffany Thurman) Riechmann, Cameron Riechmann, Celsea (Taylor Crafton) Riechmann, Katie (Shawn) Kelley, Jacob (Jamie) Riechmann, Caleb Riechmann, and Emily Riechmann; great-grandchildren, Scott Rapien, Hope Mamino, Zane Mamino, Bryar Crafton, Adelynn Crafton, Ellis Thurman, Sutton Kelley, Tate Kelley, and Stella Riechmann; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Alvin "Pete" Riechmann and her ex-husband, Lancy Wade Cahoon; her father, Carson Adkins; her mother, Reba Adkins (nee Adkins); brothers and sisters, Emmitt (Ruth) Adkins, Verba Jean (Roger) Edwards, Hazel (Billy Ray) Arthur, Edward (Wilda) Adkins, Lloyd (Gaye) Adkins and Wyatt Adkins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 23, 2025, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home, Red Bud, IL. Services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home, Red Bud, IL, with Pastor Tim Richards officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Marcus Cemetery, Red Bud, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or de Greeff Hospice House.
