Michael Lee Simmons' Obituary
Michael Lee Simmons, 72 years, of Waterloo, IL, passed away on March 8, 2019. He was born December 30, 1946, in Cairo, IL, son of the late Marvin Simmons and Juanita, nee Bennett, LeTempt. He was married to the late Deborah, nee Steppig, Simmons. They were married March 17, 1972. She had passed away February 29, 2008.
Michael was the past owner/operator of Good Tymes Bar & Grill, Dupo, IL. He had served 3 tours of duty in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee (CB Team 0604#8) and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, member of the VFW Post 6368, Dupo, IL, proud member of the NRA, and the Southern IL Crappie Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman.
Surviving are his three daughters, Michelle (Tory D.) Bartlett of Powder Springs, GA, Christine (Thor) Lohrberg of Waterloo, IL, and Jessica (Bradley) Sager of Ava, IL; grandchildren, Tory, Thomas, Trece, Grant, Jacob, Amelia, and Remi; a brother, Roger Simmons of Dupo, IL; and sister, Susan (Derrick) Bartatto of St. Genevieve, MO, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Taylor Thomas Bartlett.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12, 2019, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday March 13, at Lawlor Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles Kempf, officiating. Full Military Honors and Interment will follow in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
