Merle C "Abby" Abercrombie, 96 years of Red Bud, IL, passed away on May 31, 2018 at Delmar Gardens South, Sappington, MO. was born May 1, 1922, in McClure, IL.
Merle retired as a switchman for the railroad, but filled his time artistic painting, lettering, working with sheet metal, heating and cooling, was a milk man, and he was the first Boy Scout Headmaster in Red Bud, IL..
Surviving are Two Sons, Tyler (Christine) Abercrombie, Barton (Theresa) Abercrombie; Brother, Robert (Bernell) Abercrombie, grandchildren, Michelle Abercrombie, Tyler Andrew (Karol) Abercrombie, Christopher (Jennifer) Abercrombie, Stacy (Matthew) Harp, Jason (Kelli) Abercrombie, great-grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Andrew, MaryJane, Jackson Abercrombie, Lainey and Colton Harp, along with other nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean, nee Phillips, parents, Chester and Cecil, nee Miles, Abercrombie, and a brother, John L. Abercrombie.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home in Red Bud, IL. and Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 9 to 10 a.m.. Services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home in Red Bud, IL. Interment will follow in the Anna City Cemetery, Anna, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St Anthony's Hospice in St. Louis, MO.
