Melba R. Luthy's Obituary
Melba R. Luthy, 80, of Baldwin, passed away at 6:16AM, Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Cedarhurst - Memory Care in Waterloo.
Melba was born July 1, 1941, in Stringtown to Louis and Selma (Hartmann) Rehmer. She married Dale Luthy on October 27, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2016. .
She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and Alter Guild and served in various offices at different times within the church. She worked as bookkeeper in the grain department for Randolph Services which later became Gateway FS. She worked in offices in Sparta, Baldwin and Red Bud. She retired at age 63 and enjoyed growing and canning vegetables, sewing and helping her husband on the farm. She was a kind and easy going woman who enjoyed bowling in leagues in Sparta and Red Bud and time spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan Reinhardt of Baldwin & Renee Luthy of Baldwin, her grandchildren, Brett (Tracey) Reinhardt of Baldwin & Nathan (Jennifer) Reinhardt of Ruma, her great-grandchildren, Mariah, Braden, Kayli and Shelby along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother in law- Allen Luthy and brother and sister in law- Melvin (Lela) Rehmer.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Pastor Brian Nowak will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin. Visitation will be from 4 until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud and from 10:00 AM until time of service, Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin.
