I am so sorry for your loss. Maurice was always such a kind and charming man. I always enjoyed when he and Myrtle would stop by for visits to the library. May you rest in peace.

I delivered mail a couple of years ago to Maurice at Garden place. He was always so friendly and kind. He impressed me with his dress and how he presented himself. So clean cut. I thought he was so debonair, like a movie star back in the 50' or so. Maybe Omar Shariff, not sure if that's the one. But I thought he was a good looking man and how he must have looked as a young man. I express great condolences to his family and friends.
Maurice leaves a giant list of accomplishments during his 100 years. A decorated combat veteran of World War II, he became the first WWII veteran to join the Columbia American Legion Post 581 and its first WWII veteran to serve as Post Commander. He dedicated 76 continuous years as a Legionnaire. His service to the Columbia community is a fitting tribute to one of our area’s outstanding citizens. May he rest in peace.
