Matthew R. Dannenberg's Obituary
Matthew R. Dannenberg, 46 years of Red Bud, IL, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, IL. He was born April 7, 1978, in Red Bud, IL.
Matt was a man of strong Lutheran faith and he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Red Bud (Prairie), IL. He graduated from Red Bud High School in 1997 and bought his first tractor, an Allis-Chalmers, shortly after graduation. Matt started working for J & J Septic & Sewer Cleaning as a sanitation driver in 1999 and he was also a farmer. Matt was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Dolphins fan. He enjoyed fishing when he had a chance and spending time with his family and his friends.
Surviving are his wife, Amy Dannenberg, nee Whelan, his sons, Dillon Dannenberg and Dalton Dannenberg, his parents, Roland and Susie, nee Schnepel, Dannenberg, his sister, Bethany (Nathan) Kinney, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Daryl Whelan, Kevin (Cathy) Whelan and Ryan (Sharon) Whelan, his nieces and nephew, Eva Kinney, Adrianna (Logan) Warsing, Alex Whelan, Autumn Whelan and Ashlyn Whelan, he is also survived by his aunts, an uncle, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Mason Kinney, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Geri Whelan, his paternal grandparents, Albert and Lillian Dannenberg and his maternal grandparents, Vernon and Dorothy Schnepel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. -10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Red Bud, (Prairie) IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 9, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Hojnacki, officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Red Bud, Red Bud, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud 10235 S. Prairie Rd., Red Bud, IL 62278.
