I have many great memories of time spent with my Aunt Mary, who always seemed more like my big sister than my Aunt. She loved to paint/draw and I remember vividly when she painted her room black with moons and stars, my parents wouldn't go for it. She always had the coolest clothes, great hair, and exotic animals.
Mary and Bill were very entertaining when we stayed at Grandma's, they would do the craziest stuff to us, but it was always so much fun. They loved to sing and play guitar and I find it apropos this is the one song that always sang that I remember, John Denver's Country Roads
" Almost heaven, west virginia Blue ridge mountains
Shenandoah river -Life is old there
Older than the trees Younger than the mountains growing' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place i belong West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice In the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road i get a feelin'
That i should have been home yesterday, yesterday"
Mary, I hope your home. I will never forget you.
There are so many things that I will remember about Mary, she was such an influence on me growing up. I looked up to her and was proud of what she accomplished. I will hold these memories dear to my heart and share them with her beautiful children.
I remember the day Mary was born and as a child she was always a bright, active and happy child! And even though she was the last of ten children, she brought our parents and family much happiness! All of us were very proud of her achievements in life and career but especially of her role as the loving mother of four children! She has given us a treasure in these children in that a part of her will always be with us either in their smiles or tears! Mary slept with Mom and Dad when she was a small child and now may she sleep in peace by their side until the day she is resurrected! Loving memories of Mary, Mom and Dad will always be in my heart!
With All My Love,
Your sister Emilie
